Corporate Strategy is a key business area responsible for a range of procurement, policy and support activities at Woking Borough Council. A top priority is to ensure the Council gets the best value and service from its range of contracts with a diverse range of suppliers.

We are looking for someone with the drive and enthusiasm to work in a small team to ensure that the Council’s supplier relations are delivering the best possible outcomes for citizens. The successful candidate will be the primary contract manager and point of contact for contractors’ delivering the Council’s outsourced Housing Management, due to go live in April 2012, and will therefore require a high level of professionalism.

Tasks will include, advising corporate management on general Housing policy and processes, managing the work tasks of staff, research and data collection to support contract reviews, supplier negotiations and development of procurement related policy. The postholder will be responsible for monitoring, updating and reporting contract performance information to a high level of detail and accuracy, holding contractors to account and reporting to Executive and Director level. The job will also require arranging and participation in meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills will be needed to resolve any contract issues and to enable continuous improvement across the Council’s contracts.
