The Heritage team manages and opens to the public a number of historic attractions, including Guildford House, the Guildhall, Guildford Castle and Guildford Museum. We are looking for a caretaker to help ensure our buildings and facilities are kept clean, secure, safe, well presented and in good order, both for the benefit of visitors and staff and to preserve them for the future.
Your day to day work will include cleaning and tidying public and staff areas including gardens; undertaking routine maintenance and health and safety inspections; patrolling buildings and maintaining good security on site including acting as a keyholder and an emergency out of hours callout. You will also assist in hands-on preparations for exhibitions and other activities according to our programmes. Although based at Guildford House, you will work at other sites, as required.
You will have experience of undertaking a range of practical caretaking duties, a working knowledge of health and safety practices relevant to sites that are open to the public and a basic knowledge of buildings, plant and equipment maintenance. You will be well organised with good attention to detail and have the ability to follow routines and tasks reliably and accurately. You must also have the ability to work well with others and to communicate problems and information clearly.
This post is part time working an average of 34.25 hours per week. This is usually worked: Week 1: Monday – Friday 7.30am – 10am, 10.30am – 2pm; Week 2: Monday – Friday 7.30am – 10am, 10.30am – 2pm, Saturday 8.30am – 12.30pm, 1pm – 5.30pm
