The purpose of this role is to perform a quality administrative and customer focused service for the Benefit section.
Duties include:
- dealing with customer queries including checking and pre-assessment of submitted claims and documentation
- providing advice on available benefits, Council Tax discounts and Council Services as appropriate
- assessing benefit claims including notified and known changes of circumstance
- refering any doubtful claims or documents to the Fraud Officers or vulnerable claimants for a welfare visit
- maintain the stock and display of information leaflets, office forms and documents
- compiling statistics for report to the Benefit Manager or Government department as appropriate
- carry out duties concerning the recovery of overpayments
The successful applicant will be educated to GCSE standard or equivalent incuding English and Maths and must be IT literate. You should be friendly, patient and caring and responsive to individual needs and should have experience in customer service environment.
