The service operates between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday.

Assistant Team Managers should expect to share 8am – 4pm and 10am – 6pm shifts with colleagues.

We are seeking a qualified, experienced children\‘s social worker, ideally with management experience in a fieldwork setting, to join Surrey Contact Centre Children\’s Team.

The team is the county\‘s central referral point for children\’s social care. The work is fast paced, varied and endlessly interesting.

You will be responsible, as part of a small management team, for making reasoned and accountable disposal and risk management decisions on all safeguarding and welfare enquiries directed by public and professionals to Surrey County Council\‘s Children\’s Service.

Consistent decision-making within a prescribed 24-hour time-frame requires the post holder to have excellent legal and procedural knowledge as well as competence in using databases and electronic recording systems.

You will also need to be confident in managing the performance and professional development of up to eight of the team\’s Referral & Information Officers (RIOs).
