Working within the Local Delivery and Customer Services Group, an exciting opportunity has arisen to manage one of the four area teams responsible for a wide range of highway management, maintenance and improvement works in Surrey.
You will lead a highly visible team of people who act as the local public face of the Council and you will be responsible for ensuring work is efficient, effective and of the highest standard. The group receives in excess of 100,000 enquires from the public per annum, and your team with contribute to making sure that each and everyone of these is properly and courteously dealt with.
The work of your team will have an important impact on the Council’s reputation and is high profile amongst elected Members.
You will provide leadership and strategic direction to 2-3 local teams and a pool of Engineers to ensure that work undertaken is responsive and cost effective.
You will have responsibility for the management of approximately 15 staff and will be expected to properly manage local revenue and capital budgets in line with council priorities.
You will need to demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of highway works and procedures. Experience in a local authority background is advantageous. You will hold a first degree, or equivalent, be committed to continual professional development and be able to demonstrate a proven record of success in managing change, building relationships, staff development, political management and delivery high profile works on time and to budget.
You will be working closely with a range of partners both in the private and public sector and will be able to command the necessary respect and influence to succeed in this environment.
