This is a key new post located in the Development Control Section managing and assisting in the administration of appeals.
This new post recognises the need identified for this important service and you would be expected to work with minimal supervision to administer and coordinate the Council’s Planning Appeal workload.
The post requires excellent communication skills and a positive and progressive attitude towards the development control process. The postholder should be committed to the continued successful implementation of the service improvements put in place following a Best Value review.
An understanding of the Planning system and planning appeals is desirable and you would be expected to provide advice to users of the Council services in respect of appeal procedures. Attendance at appeal hearings and inquiries will be required and you will need to be able to work under pressure to provide administrative support to development control planners.
Elmbridge Borough Council has an excellent employee benefits programme providing opportunities for flexible working, including term time and home working, good holiday arrangements and up to 2 flexi-days per month. We offer 24-hour employee support help-line, health/lifestyle checks and a scheme allowing the buying and selling of annual leave.
Salary and position will depend on qualifications and experience.
