Tandridge District Council

The Tandridge District

Despite its closeness to London, the Tandridge District of Surrey is very rural and over 90% is designated Green Belt. The area borders Reigate & Banstead in the west, Croydon in the north, Sevenoaks to the east and East Grinstead to the south. Situated on either side of junction 6 of the M25 Tandridge has excellent road and rail links, making access to London, the South Coast and the rest of the country very easy.

The Council works hard to maintain the rural nature of the area, while promoting and supporting appropriate economic development. It is a District of contrasts with busy commuter towns and leafy villages.

The Council

Formed in 1974, Tandridge District Council is one of 11 councils in Surrey, providing services in partnership with Surrey County Council.

Three departments employing around 350 staff deliver the District Council services, which include benefits, business rates, community safety, council housing, services for the elderly, council tax, elections, environmental health, parks and open spaces, parking, planning, recycling and refuse collection.

We have 42 councillors who decide the priorities and objectives which the Council will pursue, as well as the amount the Council spends. They meet regularly in committees to review reports, discuss issues and make decisions. Local elections are held every three years out of four.
