About the Council?

Runnymede includes the towns and villages of Addlestone, Chertsey, Egham, Egham Hythe, Englefield Green, Lyne, New Haw, Ottershaw, Row Town, Thorpe, Woodham and Virginia Water. The area covers 7,804 hectares of which the population is 82,600 (Office for National Statistics, 2008)

The Council's principal aim is enhance the quality of life for residents and provide an attractive environment for businesses and visitors. To achieve this aim, the Council and its partners will focus on shaping a Runnymede of healthier, safer and more prosperous communities. The council was rated excellent in 2003 in a Comprehensive Performance Assessment by the Audit Commission.
